ULUBUDA
Dear Friends,
I am pleased to announce our upcoming AGM on Wednesday, the 22nd February. This will commence at 7pm in Room 2B, 2nd Floor ULU. This is a time in the year where we do a presentation on what ULUBUDA has achieved in the last academic year and a brief report on our financial performance. It is also a great chance for YOU to become part of the driving force of ULUBUDA by joining our committee and carry out some tasks that you are interested in. You are most welcome to come forward and tell us what you think about our society; give us some suggestions and comments on our activities/objectives etc…
The tentative schedule:
6.30pm: Refreshments and handout
7.00pm: Recitation by outgoing Dharma Coordinator
7.10pm: A note by outgoing Chairperson and discussion of the year’s activities
7.30pm: Financial statement by outgoing Treasurer
7.40pm: Nominations and Elections
8.00pm: Word by incoming Chairperson
8.10pm: Recitation by incoming Dharma coordinator
In the interim, I invite you to make nominations (including self-nominations
), for next year’s committee. The following positions are available for election:
Chairperson
Vice-Chairperson
Treasurer
Dharma Secretary
Communications Officer
Activities Coordinator
Dharma Coordinator (Alastair Gornall)
I would like to announce the appointment of our new Dharma Coordinator for 2006-07, Alastair Gornall. Please welcome and support him as we work together to learn and develop.
ULUBUDA exists in the service of and through the efforts of you, our members; feel free to volunteer any roles you would like to hold or any help you would like to give in the coming year. =) But please send me an e-mail at geoffrey.tan@gmail.com if you are truly interested in running any of the positions above. Also, if you would like more information about these posts, feel free to ask me or any of the committee members. We’d be happy to help.
Dear Friends,
We will be meeting for the orientation day at South Kensington Tube station at 11am on Saturday, 15 October 2005. From there we will be taking a bus number 14 and changing at Putney Heath to bus number 93.
The committee will be bringing some food to share on the way, but it would be nice for you to pack something as well.
When we reach the Temple, we will also be giving some Dana(Pali for generosity, which is basically a contribution) of fruit and rice, and if you wish you can contribute either towards the expense or bring your own Dana (the monks do not eat after noon, so don’t offer cooked food).
Please confirm your attendance beforehand and leave your mobile number, or we not know to wait for you if you miss us at S. Kensington tube station. Also try your best to be punctual as we will be waiting as a fairly large group. Finally, as this is a visit to a Temple we should, while having fun and enjoying ourselves, be respectful and considerate in our dress and behaviour.
The rough schedule for the day:
11.00am Set off for Wimbledon Temple
1.00pm Offer Dana
1.30pm Introduction to the Temple and stories from the Mural Paintings by Ajahn Sangthong
2.30pm Games and Discussion
4.00pm Meditation with the Lay Buddhist Association
5.30pm Conclusion
