Meditation Session

Dear ULUBUDA members,

This coming Monday we will be conducting another

MEDITATION SESSION

For those of you who attended the first one last Monday, you will already be familiar with our teacher.
However for those who plan to just join us for the first time this coming Monday, our session will be conducted by Dimitri, a lay Buddhist practitioner who was previously a monk. He has so kindly agreed to teach us while our previous meditation teacher Ajahn Santhong is attending to personal matters this month.

Below is a some information on his background:

Born and raised in the multicultural metropolis that is Hong Kong, Dimitri (Abhipanya) was immersed in a diverse mix of philosophical and religious traditions from the start. His secondary school studies brought him to the UK, after which he travelled to Thailand where he was ordained as a novice monk in the Theravada tradition. After completing the traditional rainy season retreat he returned to study Japanese at SOAS, through which he also spent a year in Japan, taking the opportunity to walk the traditional 1,000 km Henro pilgrimage around the island of Shikoku and study a variety of Japanese Mahayana Buddhist traditions. Upon completing his degree he returned to Thailand and received ordination as a bhikkhu in Bangkok, although soon moved up to practice meditation in the north of the country in the mountainous provice of Chiang-Mai. Spending the next 4 years in the Thai forest tradition, he returned to London and to the lay life to help take care of his parents. He is now training as a Secondary School Religious Education teacher in London, where he also teaches meditation.

2. For those who joined us last Monday, I apologise for the lack of space and cushions as we were allocated that room for the whole term and did not expect the good turnout. I’m really glad all of you managed to sit through it =) For this week, we will be borrowing more cushions so hopefully we’ll be able to provide for all. We will also clear out the entire room to make it more comfortable for everyone.

Hope to see you soon!
Have a good weekend everyone =)
